Asociación Comité por la Libre Expresión (C-Libre) Freedom of Information $45,000 Promoting Freedom of Information in Honduras To promote freedom of expression and freedom of the press in Honduras. C-Libre will strengthen its network of local correspondents in 15 cities throughout Honduras to report on violations of freedom of expression. C-Libre will strengthen its alert system so that it improves in timeliness and effectiveness. C-Libre will also publish a report on the state of freedom of expression and freedom of the press in Honduras. Asociación Jovenes Contra la Violencia Honduras Accountability $32,000 Promoting Youth Crime Prevention Policies To increase dialogue regarding youth violence prevention policies in Honduras. JCV Honduras will empower youth leaders to become “Ambassadors of Violence Prevention.” JCV will establish groups of prevention ambassadors in four cities in Honduras, create a community violence prevention manual, and develop localized campaigns promoting prevention. JCV will also engage the National Congress and new cabinet members in order to advance the mission of JCV and advocate for more effective youth violence prevention programs and policies. Asociación Libertad y Democracia Accountability $40,000 Promoting Transparency and Accountability in the Sula Valley To promote transparency and accountability in municipalities of the Sula Valley. ALD will promote a series of citizen initiatives to strengthen civil society networks and their capacity to exercise oversight of local authorities. ALD will work with 12 organizations and with the Honduran Transparency and Corruption Tribunal to increase their interaction and capacity in denouncing corruption cases. ALD will also hold a series of trainings and events as well as a media campaign entitled “Citizen Action: We all promote democracy”. Asociación para una Sociedad más Justa Freedom of Information $45,000 Strengthening Independent Media in Honduras To foster independent digital media in Honduras. ASJ will strengthen the organizational capacity of the digital newspaper, revistazo.com. ASJ will conduct investigative reports on accountability and transparency on the National Congress, citizen security, labor and land rights issues. Revistazo.com will also strengthen its investigative capacity by hiring an additional journalist and improving its web platform. Centro de Documentación de Honduras (CEDOH) Accountability $46,000 Evaluating the Impact on Democracy of Increased Militarization in Honduras To strengthen civil society’s capacity to promote pluralistic and participatory dialogue about citizen security institutions. CEDOH will raise awareness of and monitor the progress of the ongoing security reform process in Honduras. This year CEDOH will shift its attention towards analyzing the impact and the results of policies that have increased militarization in public security tasks. CEDOH will convene specialists to assess the effect these reforms have had on Honduran democracy and institutions. Foro Social de la Deuda Externa y Desarrollo de Honduras (FOSDEH) Accountability $45,000 Promoting Fiscal Transparency and Accountability in Public-Private Partnerships To foster greater fiscal transparency and oversight of public investment expenditures. The FOSDEH will conduct in-depth research on the state of fiscal and public investment transparency. FOSDEH will increase the capacity of social actors such as labor unions, academia, and policy decision-makers by conducting six training workshops on their findings and proposed policy solutions to increase transparency and accountability on fiscal matters. Fundación Democracia sin Fronteras (FDSF) Accountability $42,000 Monitoring the National Legislature To strengthen citizen oversight of the National Congress. FDSF will monitor the work of elected legislators. FDSF will publish the Legislative Directory which includes information from every elected legislator.
